At SIGLO22 we believe in the transformative power of education and awareness. That is why we have launched "Generocional: young people, equality and action", an ambitious project designed to sow the seeds of equality and eradicate the different forms of gender-based violence, starting with the younger generations.
The initiative is supported by the Spanish Ministry of Equality, under its public grants for awareness, prevention, research and innovation programmes. "Generocional" is our active contribution to building a fairer, more equitable society, free from violence for everyone.
Our vision: a future with a gender perspective
The core purpose of "Generocional" is to raise young people's awareness of gender equality and to prevent gender-based violence, both implicit and explicit. We want to build critical awareness and teach people to look at the world through a gender lens, so that future generations can transform society towards a model based on equality and mutual respect.
How "Generocional" works
To achieve our aims, "Generocional" is built around a series of complementary, strategic actions:
- Specialist training for teachers:
- What do we offer? Blended training courses (in person and asynchronous online) for staff at educational institutions.
- Content: we look in depth at coeducation, feminist pedagogy, how to identify gender-based violence and effective strategies to prevent it in schools.
- Impact: we equip educators to guide their students and give them the tools they need, creating more equal and safer learning environments.
- Awareness workshops for young people:
- Who is it for? Young people and teenagers in schools and other settings.
- Content: we run interactive workshops on gender equality, preventing gender-based violence, inclusive language, sexual diversity, healthy relationships and emotional management.
- Impact: we empower young people, encouraging critical thinking and promoting relationships based on respect and equity.
- Creative day:
- What is it? An event devoted to creativity, where young people produce artistic and communication work that promotes the prevention of gender-based violence.
- Impact: we encourage artistic expression and innovation as tools for awareness and social change.
- Digital outreach and awareness:
- Channels: website, social media (Instagram, TikTok) and newsletters.
- Aim: to amplify the "Generocional" message, share educational content and raise awareness of gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence among a wide audience.
Our reach and partner network
"Generocional" activities take place across the Region of Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha (particularly in El Casar, Guadalajara), and can reach anywhere in Spain and the world through our digital and asynchronous channels.
The project is made possible by invaluable network collaboration with partner organisations such as the ALCE Association of Women in Art Therapy and the Violencia Machista 0 Association, together with the active involvement of several schools.
