ICICTE2023

On 6, 7 and 8 July 2023, Fundación Siglo22 attended the International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies in Education (ICICTE 2023) in Lesbos (Greece). This conference, devoted to ICT in education, has been running for 23 years.

There it had the chance to present three of the projects it is currently immersed in to the participants: Film Making, Benefy and Climatipia.

Film Making

On 8 July 2023 we had the opportunity to present the Film Making project to the participants. Around 20 people attended the workshop run by Siglo22 to explain the project.

People were very interested in the project methodology and asked questions about its impact on the target group, how it is delivered and tips on how to implement it in their schools.

What stood out most was the use of the short video format, for Instagram or TikTok, as a better way to reach young people at risk of social exclusion, giving them video creation tools to help them approach the world of work.

Benefy

On 7 July 2023 we had the opportunity to present the Benefy project to the participants. Around 20 people attended the workshop run by Siglo22 to explain the project.

During this short presentation we were able to set out the project's main aim, as well as all its results. We also shared with participants the methodology used in the project to gamify energy efficiency resources. At that point participants were able to see an example of a digital breakout created with Genially and an interactive infographic created with Canva.

This year the conference was about climate change and how to raise young people's awareness, so our project, Benefy, was a perfect fit. The response we got from participants was very positive. We were all delighted.

Climatopia

On 6 July 2023, Siglo22 was able to show the Climatopia simulation and decision-making game. More than 10 people attended the workshop run by Siglo22 to explain the project. This year the conference was about climate change and how to raise young people's awareness, so our project, Climatopia, was a perfect fit. The participants' reaction was very positive.

During this short workshop, Siglo22 had the chance to show participants the simulation and decision-making game. After explaining the setting in which the game takes place, the methodology used and the tool (Genially), participants were given the chance to play. For a few minutes the participants themselves entered the world of Climatopia and played through all its scenarios.

To finish, and bearing in mind that the game is still at a preliminary stage, participants were asked to fill in a form with suggestions, changes or any other ideas they might have.

All in all, we were pleased because the reactions were very positive.
