OREO is a European project funded by the Erasmus+ programme that began in January 2024. Its main aim is to support higher education - the wider community involved in digital literacy and digital education - so that it can help shape this tool (AI) and turn it into something that genuinely improves education while significantly reducing its risks.

The project's title is «To chatbot in higher education or not to chatbot?», and the real question is not whether to use this technology, but whether to protect our education systems from it, since like any powerful tool it will be used one way or another, legally or otherwise.

Main objectives

Help students, researchers, teaching staff and other staff understand the potential of AI applications and data use in education, and raise awareness of the possible risks.
Encourage innovation and experimentation in this field by exploring new AI applications, testing new approaches and sharing the results and best practice with other institutions.
Create an online learning community where students, teachers, staff and external stakeholders engage with the cultural shifts needed in the way people produce and communicate information.
Build a group of partners and trusted contacts that outlasts the project, to keep track of developments in the educational uses of Artificial Intelligence.
